Indonesia Anonymus

We are a group of Indonesians, ranting about our beloved country. This blog is a result of many people grumbling about many things in many ways.

Name:

Anonymus is the Latin word for anonymous, the correct English spelling. The Latin spelling, however, is traditionally used by scholars in the humanities to refer to an ancient writer whose name is not known, or to a manuscript of their work. Read more at Wikipedia.

The Pertamina Way

Pertamina, the Indonesia's oil and gas company, placed a one page ad in the International Herald Tribune (Tuesday December 12, 2006 - Page 22):

At the bottom, it says:

As Indonesia's national oil and gas company, Pertamina has been a careful custodian of the country's rich natural resources, helping develop the lives of millions of people and establishing the company as a pillar of the nation.
To continue demonstrating its commitment to Indonesia's national development, Pertamina is striving to improve its operational performance and to build a corporate culture that is clean, confident, customer-focused, and competitive.

Customer focused. Right. Let's get to it then.

The customers are waiting :

Hundreds of people standing in line to buy Kerosene in Solo.

Yeah, and what’s with building so many gas stations that are always short of Pertamax?

To have "one look" in every Pertamina's gas station is relatively easy, even though I noticed that some of them were quite late in using the new logo.

To have "one voice" or to introduce new spirit, new culture with a more service oriented mindset and high level of integrity is not that easy, as it’s more on people rather than on processes or systems.
