The Big R
As the US is heading towards the big 'R' (read: recession), its currency is losing value in many other currencies (Euro, Yen, to name a few). But interestingly enough, that does not apply to our big 'R' (read: Rupiah).

Obviously some garbage values contained in Yahoo! Finance's IDR database have rendered the USD vs. IDR chart useless by giving it a ridiculously inappropriate scale.
Someone please report this not-very-uncommon error to Yahoo! Finance .
uh, ok, but what does that mean?
You do realise there's a major flaw in your chart? Every chart above has the same scale (more or less), except for the rupiah?
The smallest value in the y-scale around 80% compared to the highest value, where as for the rupiah, it's around 1% of the highest?
[Though I doubt the scale will make a difference :D]
I love your blog and I log in frequently to see what new stuff you guys are up to! I suspect that your team comprises males only? Your posts indicate quite a bit of testosterone-driven wit. A slice of the feminine Indonesian side would do more than nicely.
Just commenting in the spirit of getting the right balance.

It may not be the best chart, but we won't call it useless. We can still see how the rupiah performs.

Interesting that you should mention it. Actually no, we have almost equal number of men and women. (More women in fact. 2 more than men).
Unfortunately the girls do not write very often. They prefer to have a laugh at what the boys came up with. They contribute many ideas, though. Then the boys write them... Maybe that's why you smell male hormone everywhere...

these charts are interesting :)
The tumbling dollar really shows the seriousness of the crisis. Maybe you should talk about the what's happening to our economy caused by the speculator or 'players' of the commodity market.
I hear some speculators are collecting rice for export.
recession by definition is 'having zero or minus growth in economy in 2 quarters back to back'.
I'm afraid we haven't fall into that category yet (to think positively), although most of the people are having difficulty to breathe. :D
Rupiah oh rupiah, chart means our country also in the recession, right?

the meaning of big R must be the rate of us$ against rupiah that is still containing many zeros
